Today a saleswoman from a broadcasting agency phoned me.
“Miss X from broadcasting agency Televizier”
“Do you like your membership, mrs Gopal?”
“To some extent”
“Would you like to prolong your membership?”
“No”
“Would you like to give 6 euro’s a month for supporting our agency so we can get more broadcasting hours?”
“NO”
No. No.
I will continue saying no to (broadcasting) companies who wants to sell their products to me, but don’t try hard to represent people from non-western descent or in famous Dutch saying, foreigners (i.e. a F-word), as people refer to me, although I have been living in Holland for 34 years.
Would you buy from companies who don’t fulfil your needs as a customer and don’t appreciate you?
In daily live there is a big gap in appreciation between citizens from western and from non-western origins in Holland. The first group is being respected and referred as by their origin. The other group is being called ‘foreigner’ or by some as ‘new Dutch people’.
This means an Englishman is an Englishman, a Frenchman is a Frenchman, An Italian is an Italian, but I’m a foreigner, because of mine non-western descent and Hindu religion, although my family has been living on Dutch ground from 1873.
Citizens with a non-western background, are not visible at TV and in other important media. This is the same as saying you don’t matter to me.
I ask again. Would you buy from companies who don’t represent you? So why do you expect from me I do?
I work hard for my money and I want to spend it the right way for me.
As a marketer I understand the value of good representation and connection. So as a customer I want to be represented, otherwise you will loose me.
I truly love movies and interesing broadcasts. Actually I’m addicted to it. But, love ain’t enough for me to keep my membership. Untill broadcasting companies and other media don’t represent me, I won’t spend my money on them.
Broadcasting agencies it’s up to you. Connect with me or I’m gone.
